Overview

Recreation Center “Recyard” (located in the back yard of the men’s home) - between 70-100 kids a night (open Tuesday, Thursday & Friday evenings) the Teen Challenge recreational facility (referred to as the "Recyard") is a safe haven from the gang and violence infested neighborhoods they live and play in. The long-term goal for each child in the Recyard is the formation of a young person with life and leadership skills, educational and career aspirations, and an ability to learn independently. The Recyard seeks to achieve this goal by providing a safe place in the neighborhood.
Christian Urban Regeneration Effort/C.U.R.E Corps – is an exhilarating, Christ-centered training outreach in the greater Los Angeles area. We have had teams from colleges, youth groups, as well as other Teen Challenges and para-church organizations throughout the US partner with us for Spring break or a few weeks in the summer.
Boxes of Love Distribution – boxes of food given away in Lynwood & Hawthorne on various holidays throughout the year (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas)
Christmas Gift Giveaway (toys, turkeys & trees) – we give out thousands of gifts to over 500 kids and families in Lynwood and about 100 in Hawthorne
School Teams - Our “School Presentation Team” visit many schools in the surrounding areas from Kindergarten through High School. Depending on the age group. We use informative tactics that will help each child to understand the effects and devastation of drug and alcohol abuse. Our goal is to educate, equip and prevent our young people from making decisions that will not only destroy their hopes and dreams but their lives and the lives of their families. In addition, members of the team give personal testimonies of their past life of drug abuse and how Teen Challenge has given them a chance at a new life.
Choir - The New Creation Choir is comprised of the students in the residential facilities. They travel to local churches and organizations all over Southern California singing and providing personal testimonies. The New Creation Choir, through their inspiring songs and life changing testimonies is always a heart touching ray of hope to anyone who sees and hears them.
