The Prodigal Son Returns, Jeremy’s Story

Jeremy grew up in Shafter, California—a local boy who fell in with the wrong crowd. He found that hanging out with the neighborhood kids drinking and smoking marijuana brought feelings of pleasure and acceptance. When in his senior year his girlfriend became pregnant, Jeremy moved in with her. After graduation, when she became pregnant again, they bought a new house.

But as the parties grew more frequent, Jeremy was introduced to meth and that began a 12-year meth addiction that cost him everything.

“I destroyed a marriage. I wasn’t a good father to my children. And I just went down a dark, dark path.”

Jeremy started the Teen Challenge program in 2005 but wasn’t ready yet to walk away from his addiction. Thankfully, his mother and grandparents never gave up on him. They didn’t stop praying for their beloved Jeremy.

At 32 years old, Jeremy found himself homeless, living on the streets, and sleeping in cars. Then came the day when he’d had enough. He showed up at his grandparents’ house, exhausted and spent. He told his grandma, “I’m done. I need help.”
Two months later, in October 2015, Jeremy entered Central Valley Teen Challenge and hasn’t looked back since. At Teen Challenge, he learned how to turn everything over to God—and God began to reveal he had plans for Jeremy’s life that didn’t involve dying as a drug addict!

After graduation and an apprenticeship, he attended the one-year Teen Challenge Ministry Institute, and then was hired as a staff member at Central Valley Teen Challenge. Jeremy has experienced miraculous healing and restoration because of Teen Challenge.

Also, as a staff member, Jeremy helps facilitate Central Valley Teen Challenge’s Concerned Persons family support group. Because of generous donations like yours, Jeremy is now able to help bring restoration to others.

Your donations keep our doors open and help to rescue men and women who are trapped in addiction. Because of you, we can also help the families of the addicts, bringing healing and new life to situations that some considered hopeless.

Expenses are up. Will you help us?

As I’m sure you’ve seen in your own life, expenses are up everywhere. The cost of gas, food, utilities, and other expenses are skyrocketing—and we’re trying to continue making ends meet.

Today I’m making a special plea. Will you please send a generous donation today? Your gifts change lives every day here at Teen Challenge.

Thank you and may God bless you.
